TimeClock - Solution To: "Field Not" on Time Card

Issue: User gets the message ‘Field Not’ in the Punch Date column on a Time Card.

This happens when the program is updated on one computer in the network but not on all of the computers that are running TimeClock.

Solution:

In order to make sure that all workstations are using the same version; Update all computers that are running TimeClock.

Update Steps:

    1. On the Gradience Tech Support web site go to Step One and use the Drop down to select your product.

    2. In Step Two select the version number of your software, making sure that first digit of the update matches the first digit of your version number.

    3. A page will open that will display all of the Gradience programs downloads.  Click on the one you need to update. If you need to update more than one title, you only need to download one to update them all.

--NOTE-- you will get a popup that will give you the opportunity to Run, Save or Cancel the download. Do not click Run. Click Save and save it to your desktop. Once the download is complete, close the download window and find the installation file on your desktop. Use the instructions below to install the software.

Installation Steps:

--NOTE-- If you are going to install on a server and clients, save a copy of the installation file in a shared network folder so you can copy it down to the desktop of each machine where you plan to run it.

Server Installation:

If your database is on the server or on a workstation that is used as a server for our program, install the update there first.  Ensure that your current version is not open.  Double-click on the downloaded file to install. When given the choice of Server, Client or Standalone, select Server. You will then be given the choice between Custom and Express.

Select Express. This will cause the install to obey your existing ini file even if your original installation was a Custom installation. You will be prompted to print that information. Please do so or at least jot it down. You’ll need this at the clients.

Client Installation:

At a client workstation, double-click the installation file on the desktop. If the file is not on the desktop, navigate to the network folder where it was pasted earlier, copy it again and paste it on the client desktop. Do a CLIENT and EXPRESS installation.  It will search the network for the database and automatically point to it. This is where you use what you printed out or jotted down while at the server to verify that the client is pointed properly.

--IMPORTANT!-- Do Not map a drive and Do Not use UNC (\\), Let it point to the server name/IP Address and to the exact drive letter and path where the database is on the server.

Repeat at any additional client workstations running this software.

Stand Alone Installation:

If you are running the program on one computer and the database resides on that machine, double-click on the downloaded installation file and do a STANDALONE and EXPRESS installation. Do this even if you did a Custom installation the first time.
