Gradience Pro / Enterprise - Solution To: I/O Error with Remote Desktop

Issue:

Cause: If you get the message above or one similar to it when attempting to access Gradience remotely via Remote Desktop, it is [likely] due to RDP being unable to resolve the term Localhost that is found on the 3rd or 4th line from the top on the Hrware.ini file on the server.

If you are remoting into a client workstation, this issue is [likely] due to RDP being unable to resolve the name of the server that is found on the 3rd or 4th line from the top on the Hrware.ini file on the client.

The location of the Hrware.ini file on the server or on a client workstation is C:\ProgramData\Gradience.

When you open it, you will see that the 3rd or 4th line down from the top begins with:

SERVER=

  • When opening this file at the server, you will see the word Localhost following the equal sign.
  • When opening this file at a client workstation, you'll see the name of the server after the equal sign.

Solution: RDP (Remote Desktop) typically cannot resolve either of these things so we propose you replace it with the IP address of the server/computer hosting the data. DO NOT concern yourself with other lines further down on the file. Just the one that begins with...

SERVER=

...which is located very near the top of the file.
