Gradience Pro / Enterprise - Solution To: Version 12 Client Won't Open

Solution for a situation where version 12 opens on the server but:

  • Gradience on a client workstation fails to launch or…
  • You get errors when launching Gradience on a client or…
  • The Config popup hangs when attempting to open Gradience on a client.

--IMPORTANT!-- This solution works in [most] cases but not all.

1. At the client that is having this issue, go into Services and stop Firebird.

2. Uninstall Gradience and uninstall Firebird(if you see Firebird listed).

3. Go to C:\Program Files (x86) and delete or rename the firebird folder if one is there.

4. Go to C:\ProgramData and delete or rename the firebird folder if one is there.

5. While still at C:\ProgramData, open the Gradience folder and then open the Hrware.ini file.

6. To instruct Gradience to ignore the 1st PATH=line that you see, please put a semicolon in front of it as a prefix. It should now look like this...

;PATH=

7. Click at the far, right end of this same line and then press your Enter key to create a space under the line.

8. In the new space, type PATH=C:\ProgramData\Gradience\Hrware.gdb.

9. To instruct Gradience to ignore the 1st SERVER=line that you see, please put a semicolon in front of it as a prefix. It should now look like this...

;SERVER=

10. Click at the far, right end of this same line and then press your Enter key to create a space under the line.

11. In the new space, type SERVER=Localhost.

12. Click Save and then close-out of that file and return to the desktop.

13. Reinstall Gradience version 12 as a StandaloneI realize that this is a client workstation but for the time being, let's make it a Standalone.

14. Open Gradience and enter the product key you received from us. If you cannot find it let us know and we will send it to you.

15. Log into the software with admin admin and once in, close back out.

16. If you have TimeStation launch it to see whether it gives you any errors. Assuming it does not, close back out.

17. Go to C:\ProgramData\Gradience and then open the Hrware.ini file.

18. Remove the semicolon from that 1st PATH=line and place it as a prefix on the 2nd PATH= line that you created earlier.

19. Remove the semicolon from that 1st SERVER=line and place it as a prefix on the 2nd SERVER=line that you created earlier.

20. Click Save and then close-out of that file and return to the desktop.

21. Open Gradience using your normal login and password and then open [TimeStation] if you have that to see whether the issue is now resolved.
